Hello there my sweet friends, guess what?! It is finally warming up in New England and I can just see summer on the horizon. When I tell you that the Compton family is excited...we are quaking in anticipation! Even though it is not really shorts and tank-top weather, we are doing it anyways; maybe we will encourage summer to come in a bit faster (wink wink summer). With summer, comes fishing, and a desire to lug my camera, or at least cell phone, everywhere to capture sweet photos and moments! I realize that this is meant to be surrogacy blog, but I cant help but include a little bit of family life in here....I mean look at the characters and faces!

I smiled for the promise of ice cream!

HELP! I'm falling!

Fishing with Daddy!

In reality, family life and surrogacy will soon be intertwined and one in the same. I am excited to share with my readers, and potential surro-sisters out there, how the two mesh and (hopefully not) conflict. But as of now...da da daaaaa....its going great!

Quick Update

I posted in my last blog how I could not move forward in surrogacy until my TSH levels (Thyroid levels) dropped below a 2.5, and I am so excited to announce that at my last blood draw they were 1.75. This means I am officially medically cleared to be a gestational surrogate!! Every step feels like a hurdle, and when I finally clear it, I want to literally jump for joy. And speaking of literally jumping in excitement (like my segue there...), I was able to do that this week because we found out that we are also LEGALLY CLEARED! This means that we are officially done with the hurdles that we need to jump over just to start the surrogacy process; we are here, we have arrived, and its finally starting to feel more real. We were finally able to exchange phone numbers with our Intended Parents, which has been something I have been looking forward to for a long time. The reason I have wanted to be a surrogate, is to bring life to a family, so being able to talk with the parents, and share the next steps, and joy, is what its all about.

But...with this realness comes an itch to start purchasing everything pineapple related! I bought Jonathan a super sweet, totally awesome pineapple shirt to wear for transfer day, and I have had to stop myself from buying the girls pineapple-only summer clothes. I also have to take this moment to share what my oldest friend sent me in the mail...

THE COOLEST PINEAPPLE HEADBAND EVER! I am obsessed with this thing, and cannot wait to coordinate the rest of my pineapple outfit around it for transfer day. I have known Pam since my awkward preteen years, and I expect to be friends with her well into my awkward old years. I feel blessed to have such thoughtful, supportive friends and family in my life! Thanks Pammie <3 .

What is Next

This next week, I start my shots...and while I am not afraid of needles, I cant say that I am super excited about my Progesterone-in-oil shots; but thankfully those are not for a few weeks. Next week I start Lupron, which are subcutaneous shots on my stomach. I am not nervous about the Lupron, as the needles are very small, the liquid is thin, it takes very little time, and I can do them myself. The Progesterone shots are quite different, they require a bit of set-up and time to complete these. I am sure you are thinking right now...wow I wish I could watch Laci inject herself with super thick oil, in the back of her hip, with a large needle...and you are in luck, because I plan to share these shots with you in video form next blog!

Thanks for reading and sharing this adventure with me! This next week I will be in Montana, visiting family and watching my youngest sister graduate college (CRAZY!) . I hope you are all enjoying some warm weather and blissful time.

Bye for now!
